Where does it come from?

A unique blend of three significant red, or ‘black’ as they are called in the Peloponnese, varieties: Agiorgitiko, Mavrodaphne, and Merlot. Unfiltered.

Deep ruby color. Complex aromatic bouquet with red and black fruit jam, notes of leather and vanilla. Excellent structure on the palate, with flavors of cherry, dried plum, berry and forest fruit jams. Hints of chocolate, licorice, sweet spices, oak, and eucalyptus. Full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. Vanilla sensation and a long, spicy finish.

The variety...

Agiorgitiko (pronounced AYE-yor-YEE-tee-ko) is a captivating grape variety that caresses the senses with elegance, freshness and intensity of aromas and flavours.

It is a red grape variety and is frequently referred to as “multi-dynamic”, since it is capable of producing a large range of styles, it is a remarkably versatile grape variety, and is used to make everything from refreshing rosés, delicious dry reds to concentrated sweet wines. Agiorgitiko is the sole variety permitted in the Nemea appellation and performs admirably well in the hot Mediterranean climate there.

The winery...

Zacharias Winery sits just outside Nemea, right across from the hill where the ancient city of Phleious once stood— the land of the legendary Phliasian wine. They have bottled their own wines since 2002, but their story stretches back much further. Founded by Ilias Zacharias, an agronomist with decades of experience in Nemea’s vineyards, the winery has become one of the most recognized names in the region. Their focus? Showcasing Agiorgitiko and Sklava on both a Greek and international level, producing wines that balance quality and accessibility, and maintaining a deep respect for both nature and tradition.
