Cinque Wine & Deli has entered an exciting new collaboration with Zacharias Winery, a family-owned estate in Nemea, one of the most celebrated wine regions.
Zacharias Winery, located just outside Nemea, stands across from the ancient city of Phleious, once famed for its legendary wines. Though they have bottled under their own label since 2002, their history runs much deeper, shaped by the expertise of founder Ilias Zacharias, an agronomist with decades of experience in Nemea’s vineyards. With 400 hectares under cultivation, they have dedicated themselves to showcasing Greek varieties, especially Agiorgitiko and the rare Sklava, which they revived through years of research. Their philosophy is simple: great wine starts in the vineyard. Combining modern viticulture with deep respect for tradition, they craft wines that are both high in quality and accessible, ensuring that every bottle offers a true taste of Nemea’s rich terroir.
We’re very proud to be able to offer our guests some of the winery’s latest winemaking efforts:
- Mavrodaphne Lexis, a bold expression of Nemea—where black fruit, spice, and time unite in a wine built to last.
- Lexis Gris, a rosé of finesse, crisp citrus, delicate florals, and a whisper of spice.
- Nemea Lexis, a concentrated wine of velvety tannins and a complex nose of dark fruit in every sip.
- Black Cubed, three black, per Peloponnese slang, varieties, one unforgettable wine!
- Sklava, a unique ancient Greek variety, one of the oldest in the Greek vineyard, esclusively cultivated now by Zacharias Winery.
- Synastry Series: Merlot, velvety elegance in every sip —cherry, plum, and vanilla wrapped in a delicate embrace.
- Synastry Series: Chardonnay, where peach, melon, and citrus dance in perfect harmony.
As a tribute to our collaboration with Zacharias Winery, we’ve created a special series of wooden boards that bring together the best of both families. These boards are not just serving pieces! Each board features a winelovin’ engraving that any winelover can appreciate, from witty phrases to clever nods to Greek varieties. One of our favorites? A fresh spin on our iconic motto: Jesus Drank Wine now becomes Jesus Drank Agiorgitiko —a fitting tribute to Nemea’s legendary grape! It’s also available as a T-shirt!
