LEXIS GRIS

Type:  Rose, Dry
Category:  Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Peloponnese
Varieties: 100% Moschofilero
Producer: Zacharias Winery
Region: Nemea

Where does it come from?

Pre-fermentation maceration (cold soak) and fermentation at controlled low temperature in stainless steel tanks. Matured on fine lees for 6 months.

Soft salmon color with gray highlights. Intense aromas of citrus fruits, lime, and small white flowers. Crisp on the palate, dominated by citrus aromas. Rose petals, pink grapefruit, white pepper, lemon blossoms, and rose water contribute to the complex structure of Lexis Gris. Pleasant, balanced acidity and a lingering finish with a hint of Turkish delight.

The variety...

Anyone in pursuit of a Greek white grape variety which promises refreshment and enlivenment, offering unprecedented exoticism in a Mediterranean country, should look no further than Moschofilero (Moss-koh-FEE-leh-roh).

“Moscho”, the first part of its name, has the meaning of a charismatic grape, the most aromatic one of the Filéri grape family. Despite the reddish or greyish hue of its berries, it is almost exclusively used for the production of dry whites, and some sparkling wines.

Discover the unique character of the grape by choosing one of Cinque’s wine tastings or enjoy it by the glass at wine bars in Athens.

The winery...

Zacharias Winery sits just outside Nemea, right across from the hill where the ancient city of Phleious once stood— the land of the legendary Phliasian wine. They have bottled their own wines since 2002, but their story stretches back much further. Founded by Ilias Zacharias, an agronomist with decades of experience in Nemea’s vineyards, the winery has become one of the most recognized names in the region. Their focus? Showcasing Agiorgitiko and Sklava on both a Greek and international level, producing wines that balance quality and accessibility, and maintaining a deep respect for both nature and tradition.
