Vervenioti Winery

Just outside Tripoli, in the heart of the Peloponnese, Vervenioti Winery embodies a three-generation family tradition of viticulture, deeply rooted in the land of Mantinia.

The estate, located within the renowned PDO Mantinia wine zone, is dedicated to producing exceptional wines with a focus on Moschofilero, the region’s signature aromatic variety. Blending time-honored techniques with modern technology, the family remains committed to crafting wines that respect tradition while embracing evolution.

The winery’s vineyards are located in the villages of Kapsia and Fteri, at altitudes ranging from 600 to 800 meters. Covering approximately 30 hectares, they are cultivated with a deep respect for tradition, preserving the cup-shaped vine training method passed down through generations. The estate focuses on low-yield viticulture, ensuring that production does not exceed 800 kilograms per hectare. While Moschofilero is the crown jewel of the winery, the family also cultivates select international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah.

The story of Vervenioti Winery is deeply intertwined with the dedication and vision of the family behind it. Konstantina Lyberopoulou, who oversees the winery, discovered her passion for viticulture through her father’s stories as they worked together in the vineyards. She understands that the journey from grape to wine demands tireless effort, but the true reward lies in the moments shared with those who contribute to each harvest. Her husband, Antonios Verveniotis, has spent his life among the vines, finding peace in their silent rhythm. To him, each vine has its own personality, and through years of careful observation, he has learned to listen and intervene only when necessary. Their daughter, Betty Vervenioti, brings a modern perspective to the family’s legacy. For her, winemaking is a creative journey—an opportunity to blend her experiences with the family’s long-standing traditions, crafting wines that reflect both heritage and innovation.

Winemaking at Vervenioti Winery is guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the character of each grape to shine through. Hand-harvesting takes place in the early morning hours when temperatures are low, preserving the delicate aromas and freshness of the fruit. Only the finest free-run juice is used, obtained naturally through gravity to avoid unnecessary stress on the grapes. Fermentation occurs under carefully controlled low temperatures, ensuring that each wine retains its vibrant aromatic profile. During bottling, an oxygen-free environment is maintained within each bottle to prevent oxidation and preserve the wine’s integrity.

Whether visiting the winery for a tasting, exploring the vineyards, or learning about the winemaking process, guests are invited to experience the authenticity and warmth that define Vervenioti Winery. It is a place where history and innovation come together, where every bottle tells a story, and where the love for wine is shared with every guest.
