Cavino Winery

Cavino was founded in 1958 in Aigio by Konstantinos Anastasiou and Ioannis Douskas.  It was originally a winery and became a distillery as well. The vineyard is located in a unique terroir, in the wine-growing of Aigialia, 800 meters above ocean level in the gorge of Kalavryta.

Aigio is located within a unique landscape of vineyards. The slopes of Aigialia combined with the mountains and the ocean in such a unique way, that formed a special microclimate in that area.

Roditis, Lagorthi, Sideritis, Agiorgitiko, Mavro Kalavrytino, and, the famous Mavrodaphne are indigenous grape varieties primarily used by Cavino. Furthermore, international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon are also used.

Cavino exports more than 75% of its production of wine and ouzo. The company involves technological developments. Nowadays, it has two bottling lines for wines and two more for spirits, in particular ouzo, tsipouro, and brandy. At the moment, Cavino produces wines, which are distributed throughout Greece, together with 50 other countries from all over the world.
It always justifies its leading position in the winemaking industry, by setting very high standards of quality and consistency in its performance.

The main shareholders in 1999, Yannis and Theodore Anastasiou brought an equally important vision to life – the creation of an estate that produces high-quality and world-class wines. That is when the Domaine Mega Spileo estate was born. The estate has a 10-hectare vineyard, which soon gave the markets of Greece and abroad unique high-quality wines from the vineyard of the Mega Spileo Monastery (Grand Cave).

In 2009, the reputable International Wine & Spirits Competition UK, ad recognized Cavino as the best Greek winery. The Oenological and Winegrowing team with its continuous brand-new innovations with varieties, winemaking, and aging, constantly gives new impetus to the company, while elevating the company even further beyond in the eyes of the wine industry.

Their main goal and vision are to promote the Greek wine-growing vineyards of Aigialia, and the Greek vineyards in general, to the Greek population, as well as abroad, and continue our commitment to producing high-quality wines.
