Kameni by Santo Wines

Where does it come from?

Drying of the grapes for 1 to 2 days before the classic red vinification. Aging 24 months in 225-liter medium-burning French oak barrels of the 4th and 5th use.

Red color. The nose is dominated by ripe red fruits and black fruits such as sour cherry and plum, on a background of freshly ground pepper. Medium-bodied, with the characteristic tannins of Mandilaria rounded. Long, fruity aftertaste.

The variety...

Amorgiano, Pariano, Vaftra, Koundoura Black, and Mandilari. These are but a few names of the late-harvested red grape Mandilaria (Pronounced “man – dee – la – ria”) variety, and serve as testimonials to the extent to which the variety has spread throughout Greece and particularly, the Greek isles. As early as the time of Pausanias, Mandilaria has participated in the production of the renowned Ariousios wine from Chios. Up to this day, it is blended in a great number of reds, rosés, and dessert wines, with strong aromas and identity. Nevertheless, Mandilaria monovarietal is quite the rarest.

Discover the unique character of the grape by choosing one of Cinque’s wine tastings or enjoy it by the glass at wine bars in Athens.
