Where does it come from?

Careful handling of the grapes. The must stay in contact with the skins until the end of the fermentation. Malolactic fermentation in stainless tanks. The wine matures for two years in French oak barrels and for at least two more years in the bottle in order to develop its character. Intense red color with purple hues. Red fruits, spices, chocolate, butter and vanilla in the nose. Good stricter and volume in the mouth with long sweet aftertaste.

Agiorgitiko is a captivating grape variety that caresses the senses with elegance, freshness and intensity of aromas and flavours. It is a red grape variety and is frequently referred to as “multidynamic”, since it is capable of producing a large range of styles, from refreshing rosés to concentrated sweet wines. However, the most common expressions are two: either as a young, unoaked red wine, or as a red matured in oak for at least a year.

The winery...

Cavino was founded in 1958 in Aigio by Konstantinos Anastasiou and Ioannis Douskas. It was originally a winery, but it very soon became a distillery too. Aigio, the city where the vision of creating a modern winery – distillery was conceived, is located in a unique landscape of vineyards. The slopes of Aigialia combine with the mountains and the sea in a unique way to form a special microclimate. Cavino primarily uses indigenous grape varieties such as Roditis, Lagorthi, Sideritis, Agiorgitiko, Mavro Kalavrytino and, of course, the famous Mavrodaphne. However, it also successfully grows international varieties such as Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
