The variety...

Xinomavro (ksee-NOH-mah-vroh), is a red-wine grape originating in Greece, more particularly in north-western part of Greece, in the Emathia region of Macedonia, the monovarietal appellations is from Naousa and Amynteo. Xinomavro is generally considered one of world-class red-wine grapes (those in boldface in the varietals list to the left of the page).

Discover the unique character of the grape by choosing one of Cinque’s wine tastings or enjoy it by the glass at wine bars in Athens.

The winery...

The Karadimos Family estate began with its first plantings in 1998 with Assyrtiko the following year Malagouzia and sauvignon blanc were added and in 2000 xinomavro was added. Dimitris Karadimos in 1998, being already a physicist, qualified and passed the TEI of Oenology, graduated in 2001. The vineyards of the estate are all mountainous and privately owned. They extend on the slopes of Knimida about 4km. northwest of Megaplatan (Atalanti).
