At Agatharchou 15 in Psiri, one of Athens’ oldest neighborhoods, you can enjoy the favorite drink of both the ancient and modern Greeks. Cinque is a cozy little wine bar with a great selection of wines made of native Greek varieties served by the glass.
At Cinque, you immediately feel at ease.
The owners make Cinque truly welcoming. They are knowledgeable, and friendly and take a delight in hosting you as though you are in their own home. In 2012, when the Greek financial crisis started, Greg Passas and his wife Evangelie decided to turn their hobby into a business. The first Cinque Wine Bar was born in Lamia, a small city in Central Greece. They took their idea to Athens and choose to set up Cinque in the historic neighborhood of Psiri.
It runs in the family.
Here you can sample the lesser-known, more interesting labels that have been passionately sought out and tested by the expert father and son team Greg and Nikitas Prassas. Both are sommeliers, and Nikitas is an oenologist too. They choose the wines for the wine list and create the tasting flights. Evangelie Tseliou- Prassas, the third key person in this small family-run wine bar, takes the time to explain the wines and tell you more about the best wine-food pairing and the accompanying Greek delicacies.
